Pūoro Pukepoto Print

This artwork has been painted with pukepoto; the blue cut sinews of Ranginui, also reffered to as vivianite, is a taonga in te ao Māori, and is used here to express the value of pūoro within our world.
 
Pūoro Pukepoto was created during my thesis as a way to physically represent the taonga and oro I was writing about and working with, as a way to provide myself with a kinesthetic sense of the work. I spent two years of evenings painting each individual taonga, alongside writing the thesis that accompanies them.
